Fortune City Seafood Restaurant Reviews
Just went for mothers day, another Chinese resto nearby was busy. Wait wasn't too bad. Food was excellent, and service was also excellent. Washroom is also clean. 11/10. Very friendly and attentive staff. Will be back soon definitely.
Busy dimsum place, but definitely one of my favourites. Owner Jackie has also been so accommodating with my family as soon as he saw our family he greeted us. Service as always was impeccable.
This place is a low key, no frills, not fancy, good old traditional Cantonese food. The service is decent and if you’re a regular, you will also see the regulars everyday here, especially in the morning. The owner and staff are doing a great job here. I love coming here for dim sum. If you order before 11am you get 20% off your bill. If you order after 11am you get 10% off. Mon to Friday only. This place has tea fee for 1 per person. As for dinner I’m pretty impressed with their peeking duck. I’ve never been disappointed. *Update* August 24 2024 Another restaurant 5 mins away called Golden Seafood on Nanaimo and Broadway said our dinner reservation didn’t exist. They messed up on a night that was supposed to be a birthday dinner night. Fortune city came through and made a table for us. We are extremely thankful because it was an important night. I’m changing my star ratings to full 5 stars on food, service, and atmosphere. Thank you for your amazing accommodation last minute. Everyone is getting a bigger red envelope this coming Chinese New Year
The wait for Saturday at noon was not too bad. Black pepper pork belly soup, the chicken, salt and pepper squids were excellent. The stirred fried noodle with beef was disappointing. They use thin noodles and it wasn't particularly flavourful. Credit card accepted, no amex
Excellent meal overall. Seafood hot & sour soup Deep fried Crispy chicken Deep fried squid with Pepper salt Beef with Gai Lan Honey Garlic spare ribs Saunteed Pork Taro with string beans Beef with rice noodles Barbecue pork & Shrimp Fried rice House special Chow mein.
Fortune City seafood is always a reliable Cantonese restaurant. We’ve been frequenting them for many years, whether it’s for dim sum, lunch, dinner or delivery, they’re always fast, fresh and reasonable. Some of our favourite dishes includes their salt and pepper pork chops, their sautee shrimp with egg, ginger green onion beef hot pot, house special steam chicken, house special chow mien and so much more. It’s hard to avoid Chinese restaurants using MSG, and I think they do a good balance of it. While I have nothing against MSG, I find some restaurants over use it to hide the inferior quality of their ingredients. Not the case with fortune city seafood. Service is very typical of Chinese restaurants, you have to get a server’s attention if you want anything, but they do make the effort to provide special touches. One time we ordered way too many dishes and our table was cramped, after requesting for a bigger table, they helped us shift all our cutlery and dishes over. They will also ask if you would like the curtains down in the evening when the sun can be in your eyes. They also started doing discounted dishes for take out during COVID. They are now 18/dish, and they’re great when you don’t want to make dinner but still have a family to feed. Or if you want o just add a few extra dishes to your meal. Overall a great place to go for Chinese food and we’ve been enjoying our experience so far!
Good dinner special. Especially the lobster. Will come back again!
Really popular restaurant. We went for dim sum and it was delicious with some of the biggest portion sizes I have seen in Vancouver. Fast and friendly service. It does get busy after 11 so be prepared wot wait, especially if you are a larger group. Can't wait to go back!
